At the heart of Bristol Care Group’s nurturing and trauma-informed approach is a team of dedicated professionals who bring compassion, expertise, and authenticity to their work. This week, we’re delighted to introduce Yara, one of our Therapeutic Practitioners, whose work with young people is grounded in empathy, evidence-based practice, and genuine human connection.
Creating Safe Spaces for Growth
In her role, Yara supports young people with complex emotional and behavioural needs, helping them build resilience and rediscover their inner strength. She focuses on creating environments where every child feels safe, understood, and valued—spaces where healing and personal growth can truly take place.
“Authentic interactions with young people allow me to understand their individual experiences,”
Yara explains.
“Tailored care, built around their needs, is always my priority.”
A Strong Foundation in Psychology
Yara’s professional journey is built on a deep academic and practical understanding of human behaviour. With a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Master’s in Health Psychology, she has combined theory with hands-on experience supporting diverse, vulnerable populations.
Her work in research-based intervention projects and cognitive rehabilitation has shaped her trauma-informed practice, enriching her ability to connect with young people in restorative and meaningful ways. Through this, she helps them build coping strategies, strengthen emotional regulation, and develop the confidence to thrive.
Expertise in Neurodiversity and Positive Health Behaviour
Yara brings particular expertise in supporting neurodiverse children and young people, including those with Autism Spectrum Conditions and ADHD. Her approach is informed by the Secure Base Model and PACE, core frameworks within Bristol Care Group, alongside evidence-based health models such as the Health Belief Model.
“I believe in creating inclusive, empowering environments where every child feels heard and supported,” she says. “My aim is to help each young person understand and manage their emotions while promoting positive, sustainable health behaviours.”
Guided by Compassion and Curiosity
For Yara, three guiding values underpin everything she does—compassion, consistency, and curiosity. These principles shape her interactions with the young people she supports, encouraging trust and growth through shared understanding.
She finds motivation in the small but powerful moments: a young person expressing vulnerability, forming a healthy relationship, or engaging in a positive behaviour change. “Those moments remind me how valuable this role is—not just for the young people, but for me too,” Yara reflects.
Beyond the Role
Outside of work, Yara finds balance and creativity in nature. Whether hiking through trails or sitting quietly in a green space, she often writes poetry or paints. She’s also passionate about yoga, describing it as a “creative expression of body movement.”
And, as a fun fact—Yara has a growing collection of houseplants, each lovingly cared for with its own unique routine.
Words That Inspire
Yara shared a piece of her own poetry that beautifully captures the spirit of connection and care that defines Bristol Care Group:
“Strangers meet with open grace,
Hearts entwined in a radiant place.
Through tears and truth, we learn to be—
In vulnerability, we find the key.
Love takes root in moments shared,
In open hearts, our souls are bared.”
Yara’s compassion and creativity shine through every aspect of her work. Her commitment to building trust, promoting well-being, and nurturing growth embodies the essence of Bristol Care Group’s mission—helping young people heal, thrive, and discover their full potential.
